Hello, I’m Marian—and I’m delighted you’ve found your way here.
Four career reinventions have taught me that the most extraordinary lives are built by women brave enough to write their own rules. My path from attorney to agency founder to medical writer wasn’t planned—it was intuitive, strategic, and ultimately deeply fulfilling.
The foundation was built with an unusual combination of degrees in philosophy, design, and law that taught me to think critically, create thoughtfully, and advocate effectively. I began my career as a young attorney in Wisconsin. When a collaboration between my firm and a design agency opened my eyes to visual communication, I was captivated. I left legal practice to found Fortuni, representing commercial illustrators and photographers internationally.
That entrepreneurial leap sparked an invitation from Professional Dimensions, an exclusive organization for accomplished women where I learned the transformative power of women supporting women’s professional and personal growth. Those relationships didn’t just advance careers—they transformed lives—and became the foundation for everything that followed.
When 9/11 reshaped my business landscape, I followed an intuitive pull to the Twin Cities—drawn by the vibrant culture, business opportunities, and yes, the sparkling frosty winters. I forged a new community of remarkable women. Along the way, writing found me.
Eighteen years later, I’m a business author and medical writer, using my voice to advance science-based healthcare and champion women-owned businesses. But Goldspun Life represents something deeper—the confluence of decades spent supporting women’s growth, now on a broader stage.
I envisioned a platform where accomplished women share the wisdom, strategies, and sophisticated choices that create lives of purpose and beauty. Every profile shared, every insight offered, contributes to our collective wisdom about how to navigate reinvention with grace and create lives that honor both ambition and authenticity.

GoldspunLife is wildly fortunate to have the vision, expertise, and friendship of the fabulous Tina Wilcox and her team guiding our brand development and strategic design. CEO and chief creative officer of lauded retail brand agencies Fame and Black, Tina Wilcox is a legend in the advertising world. She has served clients from Target and Martha Stewart to celebrities including Elton John, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman. When Athena is not shooting for GoldspunLife, she is booked with wedding and lifestyle shoots or brewing up dazzling celebrations for her event planning clients.
